ATTORNEYS
Brian J. Kearney graduated from Concord College in 1982 with a Major in History and Political Science and from Washington & Lee School of Law in 1986. He graduated magna cum laude and was awarded the Order of the Coif.
Brian was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1986 and he's been practicing in the Buena Vista, Lexington, Rockbridge County area since 1987. He is a partner in the law firm of Heslep & Kearney, P.C.
Brian concentrates his practice in Real Estate, Commercial Transactions, Estate Planning, Governmental Law and Business.
Over the past 30 years he has been involved in several thousand real estate transactions; from the sale of a home to the development of subdivisions to multi-million dollar commercial transactions. He has also formed and advised a variety of business clients. His representation has included sole proprietorship to multi-jurisdictional enterprises.
Brian has had the honor of serving the City of Buena Vista as its City Attorney since 2004. He looks forward to continuing in that capacity. As City Attorney he has been exposed to a wide variety of governmental issues, which experience he can bring to his private practice.
OF COUNSEL
W. Wayne Heslep was born and raised in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1973 and the Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1976. He began practicing law in Lexington following graduation and has practiced extensively throughout the Shenandoah Valley ever since.
As of March 1, 2023 Mr. Heslep has taken a senior counsel status and will continue to be associated with the firm but on a more limited basis.
